Homeownership: 65+

Select a Zip Code
Measurement Period: 2018-2022
This indicator shows the percentage of housing units occupied by adults aged 65 and older who are homeowners, out of the total population of housing units (both renter-occupied and owner-occupied) occupied by adults 65 years and older.

Why is this important?

Homeownership has many benefits for both individuals and communities. Homeowners are more likely to improve their homes and to be involved in civic affairs, both of which benefit the individual and the community as a whole. In addition, homeownership provides tax benefits. Older adults, especially those who have retired from the workforce, may feel an additional sense of financial and emotional security compared to those of the same age who are renting a home.
